Khairy: Selangor government incapable of managing its own economy
SEREMBAN: The decision by the Selangor Government to appoint Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as its economic adviser shows that the state is incapable of managing its own economy.
“The RM1 salary to be paid by the state government to Anwar is only a gimmick.
“The amount is immaterial because Anwar is already rich,” said Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin.
Khairy, who is also Rembau MP, was speaking to reporters after launching a home gardening campaign at the multi-purpose hall in Taman Tuanku Ja’afar, near here, yesterday.
The event was jointly organised by Fomca, Cuepacs, the Malaysian Youth Council and the National Council of Women’s Organisati-ons.
Khairy added that the Federal Government also had an economic adviser and an advisory panel but they had the necessary credentials, links with the international network and a sound knowledge of the global economic scenario.
“It is unfortunate that Selangor had to appoint Anwar, who did not have a good record when he was Finance Minister,” he said.
On another matter, Khairy said PKR vice-president Azmin Ali should explain an allegation over the purchase of RM8.5mil worth of shares.
“It is not wrong to buy shares. However, an explanation is necessary as to how the purchase was financed.
“Azmin must have an answer and an explanation,” Khairy said.
