Najib invited to Makassar

By SA’ODAH ELIAS

MAKASSAR (South Sulawesi): Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has been invited as the guest of honour at the 689th anniversary of the Gowa (ancient Bugis government) administration.

Najib, who was awarded an honorary Bugis title four years ago, is the only head of government invited for the celebration to be held later Wednesday.

A colourful ceremony where Najib and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor will be officially ‘invited’ to don the Gowa special attire will be held at the residence of South Sulawesi Governor Syahrul Yasin Limpo.

After the ‘amantuli’ (official invitation according to Bugis custom) Najib and Rosmah will leave for the Syekh Yusuf Discover Square for the anniversary celebration.

Najib will later address the gathering where he is expected to touch on the special friendship bond between the people of South Sulawesi and Malaysia.

Najib and Rosmah are expected to arrive at the Sultan Hasanuddin Airport for the ceremony at noon where he will immediately witness the signing of four memorandum of understanding between various Malaysian organisations and their local counterparts.

These include an MoU involving the setting up of an embryo for animal husbandry here.
