Satim to be investigated over comments against Khalid

SHAH ALAM: The Selangor State Assembly passed a motion to investigate deputy state opposition chief Datuk Satim Diman over his statements on the Mentri Besar’s handling of the state budget.

Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim (PKR — Ijok) tabled the motion for the Sri Serdang assemblyman to be investigated.

On Nov 11 during the budget debate, it is said that Satim had alleged that the people were suspicious of Khalid’s capability to manage the state’s financial matters and linked it to his personal loans with Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad involving the purchase of shares amounting to RM66.6 mil from the Guthrie Group in 1998.

Speaker Teng Chang Khim said the motion was accepted and Satim would be referred to the Rights and Privileges Committee to ascertain the validity of the statement.

If it is found that Khalid’s character has been injured, action would be taken against him.

Five other Barisan Nasional reps had been called to face the committee earlier for criticising the Select Committee for Competency, Accountability and Transparency (Selcat).

They are Hulu Bernam assemblyman Datuk Mohamed Idris Abu Bakar, Datuk Wano Dogol (Sabak), Datuk Marsum Paing (Dengkil) Mohd Isa Abu Kassim (Batang Kali) and Datuk Seri Dr Mohamad Khir Toyo (Sungai Panjang).

Four of them were suspended for six months while Dr Khir was suspended for one year from attending the state assembly.
