Fest an ideal platform to help the poor too, says Rosmah

KUALA LUMPUR: Dressed in her usual immaculate self, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor will be taking Islamic fashion to new heights.

The Prime Minister’s wife says she was preparing to promote the dress sense when she visits Washington with Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in April.

“We will be attending a nuclear conference there and I hope there will be a session where I can sit and chat with other leaders’ wives.

Fashion icon: Rosmah sharing a light moment with singer Nurul who was the model for designer Melinda Looi, at the event in Kuala Lumpur Tuesday.

“I will speak to them about our plan to stage an Islamic Fashion Festival in the West,’’ she said at the launch of the eighth Islamic Fashion Festival (IFF) at a hotel here yesterday.

Rosmah said the IFF was the perfect platform as it brought together designers of various cultures, fashion buyers and sellers and the media throughout the world, besides creating a better understanding of Islamic fashion.

According to Rosmah, the festival was not just a fashion show but also a platform to help the less fortunate.

“I’m happy that even with the fashion week, we do not forget those who need help. We will be holding a special event to contribute RM50,000 courtesy of IFF to Padang earthquake victims.”
