Settle dues, taxpayers told
ALOR SETAR: The Sultan of Kedah Tuanku Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah said it is high time the state government takes action against Kedahans who failed to pay their state taxes.
He said the residents have a responsibility as taxpayers to settle their dues because the money was needed to further develop the state.
‘‘The state has limited resources but with a good management system, it could make optimum revenue collection,” he said when opening the state assembly’s 2010 Budget sitting here yesterday.
The Sultan also urged the departments involved in collecting revenue to increase the number of personnel and upgrade their collection systems.
