Foreign woman falls to death at high-end condo

GEORGE TOWN: A woman in her 20s, believed to be from either the Middle East or Eastern Europe, fell to her death from a high-end condominium in Jalan Bukit Gambir here.

The woman was found lying on the ground some seven metres away from the 23-storey building in a pool of blood during the 8.30pm incident on Friday.

It is learnt that the woman was earlier spotted entering the condominium with a unit owner.

Penang CID chief Senior Asst Comm (II) Wan Abdullah Tuanku Said said the woman was dressed in a long black slack and long-sleeved blue-striped shirt.

“Her shoes were found some three to 10 metres away from where her body lay.

“A shattered watch was also found four metres away from her,” he said when contacted Saturday. SAC Wan Abdullah said police did not find any document on the woman.

“The workers left the building at 6.15pm and a security guard found her body at 10pm.

“A post mortem report showed the victim succumbed to injuries from a fall.

“Police are temporary classifying the case under sudden death report,” he said.

Forensic pathologist Datuk Dr Bhupinder Singh, who went to the scene following the incident, said showed that she was not sexually assaulted.

“We are also taking blood samples to test if she had consumed alcoholic drinks or drugs.

“Based on the deceased’s brown-coloured pupil and skin colour, we believed she could be from either East Europe like Ukraine or the Middle East,” he said.
