The Star wins award for third year
Kuala Lumpur: The Star is among Malay- sia’s Most Valuable Brands (MMVB) for the third consecutive year. Star Publications (M) Bhd managing director and chief executive officer Datin Linda Ngiam received the award for 2009 from Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop at the awards ceremony here last night.
The Star, with a total brand value of RM371.4mil, maintained its 20th place from last year out of 30 companies.

Public Bank took the top honours with a total brand value of RM6.59bil, followed by Maybank (RM5.37bil) and CIMB (RM5.25bil).
Also present were Association of Accredited Advertising Agents (4As) president Datuk Vincent Lee, The Edge editor-in-chief Ho Kay Tat and Interbrand Asia-Pacific president Stuart Green.
The annual event is co-organised by 4As and The Edge, and the valuation study conducted by Interbrand. Last night also saw the launch of the MMVB Hall of Fame and the first inductees were Celcom (M) Bhd chief executive officer Datuk Seri Shazalli Ramly and AirAsia group chief executive officer Datuk Seri Tony Fernandes.
