Economy will grow next year, says DPM
BANDUNG: Malaysia’s economy is recovering following measures taken by the Government and is expected to register a growth of three to four percent next year, said Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
He added that the Government had implemented various initiatives aimed at transforming the country’s economy from a low- and medium-income economy into a high-income one.
Muhyiddin urged the people, including Malaysian students overseas, to help ensure that the economic transformation progressed smoothly.
Muhyiddin also spoke of the Government’s efforts to enhance its delivery service through the introduction of key performance indicators (KPIs) for ministers.
On overseas students, Muhyiddin said the Government believed they would strive to protect the good name of the country.
Apart from focusing on their studies, students should also make efforts to promote Malaysia overseas.
“Good relations with the local people will go a long way in projecting a positive image of Malaysia internationally,” he said in a dinner with about 600 Malaysians here on Friday night.
He added that Malaysian students in Indonesia could also play their role in further streng-thening ties between both countries.
