Brief US stopover but packed schedule for Najib

NEW YORK: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is making a brief stopover in the United States before flying to Trinidad and Tobago for the 21st Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).
Najib, who arrived early this morning with Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, will attend a private dinner with United Nations secretary-general Ban Ki-moon in the evening. The Prime Minister has a packed schedule that includes meetings with Forbes Inc president Steve Forbes, Motorola Inc’s president of the Enterprise Mobility Solutions business Gene Delaney and captains of financial services here.
Forbes is editor-in-chief of business magazine Forbes in the US, which together with Forbes Global, reaches a worldwide audience of nearly five million readers.
Najib is expected to elaborate on Malaysia’s economic liberalisation policy and the government’s measures to promote investment.
He is also scheduled to meet the Malaysian business community and give a talk on Malaysia: Gateway to Asean for the financial sector, arranged by CIMB Group and Credit Suisse First Boston.
Later, he will attend a dinner at the Metropolitan Club in Fifth Avenue where he will meet the Malaysian community in New York.
The dinner is hosted by Malaysian Ambassador to the United States Datuk Seri Dr Jamaluddin Jarjis and Consul-General Mohd Zamruni Khalid.
Najib will leave for Washington tomorrow and attend another dinner with the Malaysian community there. He will then fly to Port of Spain, the capital of Trinidad and Tobago, for the CHOGM meet.
