Nik Aziz serving own interest, says Muhyiddin

By MAZWIN NIK ANIS

PUTRAJAYA: Kelantan Mentri Besar Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat seems to be making decisions that serve his own interest and that of his family members, said Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

The Deputy Prime Minister said that the PAS spiritual leader has not been consistent in his decisions and often contradicts himself.

“It seems that when he makes a decision that involves him and his family, there is one set of law and for the rest, there is another set of law.

“He is not consistent, not transparent and to me this shows weakness in the PAS leadership, “When there is inconsistency and contradiction a lot of suspicions will emerge,” he told reporters Tuesday.

The inconsistency in Nik Aziz’s decision making was not only confusing to PAS members but also the public and was a sign of weakness in the leadership.

“I don’t know what law he is using but it is certainly confusing,” Muhyiddin said.

Nik Aziz had been seen making several “flip-flop” statements of late, including his decision to go on a RM65,000-sponsored haj pilgrimage trip earlier which he said should not be deemed as a bribe.

However, he later decided against going for the trip as it would be highly inappropriate but was recently quoted as saying that he did not mind performing haj next season if there were parties which want to sponsor the trip.

Nik Aziz had also been questioned over how he dealt with the issue of his son-in-law Abdul Ariffahmi Abdul Rahman, who is the chief executive office of Kelantan Mentri Besar Incorporated who has been accused of misappropriation.

On Monday, Nik Aziz had directed Abdul Ariffahmi to quit his job, following the advise of national PAS leaders.
