Wong: MCA EGM to proceed as scheduled
KUALA LUMPUR: The Nov 28 extraordinary general meeting will go on as scheduled despite the ongoing negotiations between the two factions in MCA, said requisitionist Wong Nai Chee.
He said the event would proceed as the group which pushed for the EGM was still uncertain with the outcome of the discussions. “The EGM is valid under the party constitution and it will go on as planned if there are still no details that fresh elections will be held,” he told a press conference here Tuesday.
However, he refused to answer when asked whether the EGM would be called off should a date for fresh elections was agreed upon by both groups before Saturday. He also denied that it would be a waste of money to hold the EGM since both camps have agreed to hold fresh polls.
Wong said 100 volunteers were needed at the EGM and so far 60 people had registered to help out.
“We have also pre-booked flight tickets to facilitate travel for delegates from Sabah, Terengganu and Kelantan,” he said, adding that accommodation would be provided.
