Hadi: Nik Aziz’s son-in-law issue now closed
KUALA LUMPUR: PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang considers the controversy over Kelantan Mentri Besar Incorporated (PMBK) chief executive officer Abdul Ariffahmi Abdul Rahman closed.
He said the decision by Kelantan Mentri Besar Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat to ask his son-in-law Abdul Ariffahmi to resign was arrived at collectively by the national PAS leadership.
“It’s settled. The PAS leadership needed to step in because it’s also a political decision.
“Politicians see it as a political matter.
“We need to give our views based on the political repercussions.
“It was made in the spirit of musyawarah (consensus). It’s the party that rules, not the person,” he said at Parliament House after attending a Pakatan Rakyat meeting yesterday.
Abdul Hadi was asked why the national PAS leadership had to step in to settle the issue when the decision could have been made by the Mentri Besar himself.
Nik Aziz was reported to have said that he decided to terminate the services of his son-in-law after meeting Abdul Hadi, deputy spiritual leader Datuk Dr Haron Din, vice-president Sallahuddin Ayob and Dr Hatta Ramli at his official residence on Monday.
He said he had decided to advise Abdul Ariffahmi to resign to safeguard the good name of the party and avoid further slander by bloggers and poison-pen letters.
