BUKIT MERTAJAM: An Indonesian man was brutally murdered with his penis and testicles severed at the Taman Pelangi flats here.
The severed organs were found next to the body of the man believed to be in his 30s or 40s.
An Indonesian woman was found injured in another bedroom of the fourth floor unit at Block E.
Residents had called the police at about 7pm on Tuesday.
Police found the naked body in a pool of blood. The victim also had multiple slash wounds on his body.
The woman, who had bruises on her face, was arrested by police who brought her to the Seberang Jaya Hospital where she was admitted. She is in her 30s. It is learnt that she is still in a state of shock.
Central Seberang Prai acting OCPD Supt Mohan Singh said the case had been classified as murder but did not reveal the identity of the victim.
He said police also recovered at the scene a broken piece of the window pane glass which was believed to be the murder weapon, as well as instruments for consuming illegal drugs.
Based on initial investigations, he said the premises was used for illicit drug-taking.
“We have yet to determine the relationship between the man and the woman.
“We are also checking whether there was a quarrel between the two or if there was involvement of a third party,” Supt Mohan told reporters at the scene.
He said the murder was believed to have occurred earlier that day at about 4am as several witnesses heard a loud quarrel and the throwing of things.
The woman, he said, had valid travel documents while police were investigating if the deceased was in the country legally.
The victim’s body was sent to the Seberang Jaya Hospital for a post mortem.
Supt Mohan Singh urged those with information or had witnessed the murder to contact investigation officer ASP Mohd Naim Asnawi at 019-5728844 or the nearest police station.
