By G.C.TAN
ALOR SETAR : A 66-year-old woman died after falling off from a motorcycle during a snatch theft incident near Alor Senibong about 15km from here.
Fatimah Salleh (pic) was riding pillion with her niece’s husband Zaharuddin Ramli, 44, and son Mohd Ramli, six, when a motorcyclist snatched her handbag at about 10.30pm on Wednesday.
Zaharuddin said he did not lose control of his machine and when he turned around, he saw Fatimah falling onto the road.
“I carried my aunt, who was bleeding, to the side of the road and a motorist rushed her to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital.
“But she succumbed to her head injury about six hours later. The thief managed to flee with her handbag which only contained a dress and her MyKad,” he said at the scene where police were investigating the case yesterday.
Zaharuddin said they were on their way home to Alor Binjal, Pendang, after visiting a relative’s newborn grandchild in Sungai Mati, Langgar, when the incident happened.
Kota Setar CID Chief Deputy Supt Fiesal Libertus Abdullah said the case had been classified as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
