Robbers hit gems outlet for RM500,000
NIBONG TEBAL: Five masked men, one armed with a pistol and another with a hammer, robbed a goldsmith shop in Sungai Bakap here of RM500,000 worth of jewellery.
South Seberang Prai OCPD Supt Shafien Mamat said only the owner’s brothers and two sisters were inside the shop, Kedai Emas Kim Seng, during the 10am robbery.
“No one was injured in the robbery. The robbers smashed the glass showcase with the hammer and grabbed 13 trays of jewellery before fleeing in a car.
“In their haste to escape, they dropped several pieces of the jewellery,” he said.
He urged witnesses or those with information on the incident to call the district police headquarters in Jawi at 04-5824222 or the nearest police station.
