Mistress fails to get payment from lover’s family
A 51-YEAR-OLD woman in Singapore lost her fight for living expenses when she challenged her lover’s family in court, reported Sin Chew Daily.
The woman had met her lover, a businessman, when he employed her in 1996. He fathered her two girls in 1999 and 2001.
Their relationship was kept a secret until the man died in February last year, aged 60.
The woman, who had always received about RM7,300 (S$3,000) monthly in living expenses from her lover, then went to his four daughters for money.
The daughters had wanted to keep the affair a secret from their mother but the latter found out and agreed to pay the mistress about RM2,400 (S$1,000) every month.
The mistress was dissatisfied with the amount and brought it up to the court but it ruled against her.
> The daily also quoted MCA Public Services and Complaints Department head Datuk Michael Chong as saying that many women are still falling victims to the “parcel of love” scam.
It reported Chong as saying that a 40-year-old woman from Kedah was recently cheated of RM45,000 after she believed her foreign “boyfriend” had sent her US$2mil (RM7mil) via the post.
It was reported that the man, who was identified only as Frank, 46, had even come to Malaysia to meet the victim.
She received a call from an officer purportedly from the Immigration Department, asking her to bank in RM5,000 for the release of a parcel. She then deposited RM3,000 into a bank account.
She later received another call from a man in Britain, asking her to bank in RM42,000 as processing fee.
The woman did not suspect anything and deposited the money.
Meanwhile, a survey conducted in New York showed that 98% of women believed that the way they dress would affect their career and that one in every five female employers had not given any salary rise or promotion to employees who did not dress well.
The survey was carried out among 137 professionals, managers and entrepreneurs.
