Liow: We’ll get two-thirds of CC to quit
KUALA LUMPUR: MCA leaders pushing for fresh polls to be held fast intend to get two-thirds of the members of the central committee (CC) to resign, said party vice-president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.
“We are hoping to have re-election as soon as possible, in January or an earlier date.
“We can’t delay too long. We will get the two-thirds to resign to meet the requirement of the party constitution,” he said at a dinner held yesterday on the eve of the special briefing at Wisma MCA here.
Liow said the good turnout of 1,000-odd delegates – excluding those from Selangor and the Federal Territory – was very encouraging.
“This is the message from the delegates to show their support and the delegates’ wish to have a re-election in the party,” he said.
Liow added discussions with the other leaders in the party over the re-election were going on smoothly.
