King to have knee surgery in Germany
KUALA LUMPUR: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin left for Munich, Germany to undergo knee surgery at the Klinikum Rechts Der Isar Medical Centre on Monday, a statement from the Istana Negara said.
He was accompanied by Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Nur Zahirah, their two children, as well as two specialist doctors, Selayang Hospital Senior Orthopaedic Specialist Dr Ramli Baba and Kuala Lumpur Hospital Orthopaedic Specialist Dr Mohd Asri Ghapar.
The statement said the surgery would be carried out by a team of specialists at the medical centre headed by Prof Andreas B. Imhoff.
“His Majesty is expected to undergo a week of recovery following the surgery.
“He has asked the people not to be unduly worried, and to pray to God for a successful surgery as well as for a speedy recovery so that he can resume his duties as usual,” the statement said. — Bernama
