Birthday bash turns tragic

KLANG: A teenager and his three much older friends, who had just left a birthday celebration, were attacked 100m from the house at Jalan Lorong Raja Nong 1C Taman Alam Nyata in Kampong Jawa here.

Two men – only known as Kalimuthu, 30 and Nathan Ravi, 42 – died from slash wounds on the way to the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital.

P. Selvaraj, 15, and his friend Sivanathran, 25, have been admitted to the intensive care unit of the hospital with deep slash wounds to the head, shoulders and hands.

Acting Selangor CID Chief Asst Comm Chaw Kok Chin said initial investigation revealed that a group of between 10 and 15 men, some armed with parang had confronted the four victims.

“An argument broke out between them, which led to the parang attack on the four.

“One of the victims had tried to get help from the neighbours but was slashed several times. He died later,” he said.

ACP Chaw added that the victim collapsed holding to a neighbour’s fence.

“A 30-year-old man has been detained and we hope he can shed some light on the incident.

“Our investigations are focusing on whether the fight was brought on by revenge or gang rivalry,” he added.
