Selproa man denies booting out 'propaganda' reporter
PETALING JAYA: Selangor Pakatan Rakyat Elected Representatives Officers Association (Selproa) secretary Ng Yap Hwa has denied booting out an Utusan Malaysia journalist from a recent press conference at the state secretariat building.
He said he merely told the reporter Yazid Alias politely “Sorry, we do not welcome Utusan” after he asked the latter which media he represented.
In an e-mail to The Star on Friday, Ng said the report of the Malay daily journalist “getting the boot” was not true because he had neither raised his voice nor scolded him.
Ng was referring to a report by The Star that he had chased Yazid out of a press conference called by officers of Selangor’s Pakatan Rakyat elected representatives at the state secretariat building on Wednesday.
He also denied saying that the Malay daily was a “federal government agent.”
He clarified that he had a short conversation with Selproa president Abdul Razak Ismail after Yazid left the room and when Abdul Razak said it was not nice to ask the reporter to leave, Ng replied: “We welcome the media but not propaganda machines.”
