Perak MB slams Nik Aziz over call for demise prayer
IPOH: It is not the way of Islam to pray for the demise of others, Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir said.
He hit out at Kelantan Mentri Besar Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat who called for Muslims to pray for the demise of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak should he refuse to pay oil royalties to the state.
Dr Zambry said “any steadfast follower of Islam well-versed in the methodology of dakwah (the methodology of presenting Islam to others) should know that such an action is wrong.”
“PAS members claim they are perfect Muslims but I do not know what type of Islamic philosophy they are teaching.
“The PAS spiritual leader is setting a bad example for his followers by preaching such things in his sermon,” he said of Nik Aziz, who reportedly made such a call during a Friday sermon in Kota Baru recently.
Dr Zambry added that it was inevitable that followers would abide by what their leader had preached.
“Whatever they do is justifiable,” Dr Zambry said after attending a state-level Hari Raya Aidil Adha celebration here yesterday.
