PM: Kelantan got RM7bil allocation under 9th M’sia Plan

By LIM AI LEE

PORT OF SPAIN: The Federal Government has allocated more than RM7bil to Kelantan under the Ninth Malaysia Plan although the state is under opposition rule, said Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

The Prime Minister said the government had been channeling funds to the state for the benefit of the Kelantan people.

“Regardless of whether the money is called oil royalty or wang ehsan (goodwill money), the people will receive it. We are not using the money for any other purpose,” Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said at a press conference here on Sunday.

Asked about the spiritual leader’s ill-intended prayer against him and Umno over oil royalty, Najib said he did not understand why the spiritual leader had made such a prayer or his accusation that the federal government was being unfair to Kelantan.

Nik Aziz had said on Friday that he prayed for the Prime Minister to change his mind over oil royalty which he said Kelantan deserved, failing which he would pray for his and Umno’s destruction.

To a question of whether he thought the remark was excessive, Najib replied: “I do not wish to make any statement. I hope he will realise it himself.” (sedar sendiri).

He added that many Muslims had felt Nik Aziz’s words were too harsh and did not reflect the true spirit of Islam.

“Whaetever it is, we discuss to seek a solution, not to pick a fight.”

Najib also said that it was not acceptable in the religion to accuse others without basis.
