Dutch rafter killed in accident in Nepal
KATMANDU, Nepal (AP): A Dutch tourist was killed when the rubber raft she was traveling in capsized in western Nepal, police said Wednesday.
Sabine Corpeley, 32, from Holland, was rafting the Kali Gandaki River with seven other foreigners and five Nepalese guides on Tuesday when the accident occurred near Binamare village, about 150 miles (240 kilometers) west of the capital, Katmandu, police said in a statement.
The woman's hometown was not known.
Bharat Prasad Poudel, the chief government administrator in Baglung district, said officials were investigating the accident.
Thousands of tourists come to Nepal every year to trek the mountains and for whitewater rafting in the Himalayas.
