Saiful makes first appearance in court

KUALA LUMPUR: Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan, the complainant in the Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim sodomy trial, made his first appearance at the High Court yesterday.

Saiful, 24, surprised everyone when he turned up at 8.40am without being subpoenaed by court.

Anwar’s former personal aide went to a witness room after that.

Surprise visit: Saiful and his father at the Kuala Lumpur High Court Tuesday.

He was accompanied by his father Azlan Mohd Lazim and lawyer Zamri Idrus.

Saiful said he had come to see the development of the case and was ready to testify.

“I have been ready to give evidence at any time, even if the court sets the date tomorrow, I am prepared to do so,” he said.

He asked the parties involved in the case to expedite the proceedings so that he could testify as soon as possible and hoped Anwar would not make any more excuses on the matter.

“I have been waiting for almost one-and-a-half years.

“My fiancee and family have been waiting patiently for the trial date so that the truth can be upheld,” he said.
