Pakatan to call for inquiry into Dipang tragedy
KAMPAR: Perak Pakatan Rakyat will call for a public inquiry into the recent Kuala Dipang bridge collapse tragedy, said Tronoh state assemblyman V. Sivakumar.
Sivakumar said the inquiry would enable the public to come forward and give whatever information, documents or recordings they had relating to the Oct 26 tragedy.
In the incident, 22 pupils attending a 1Malaysia camp in Kuala Dipang fell into the Kampar River when a suspension bridge collapsed.
Three of them — N. Dina Deve and M. Devatharshini, both 11, and 12-year-old V. Divyashree — drowned.
“The inquiry will be held simultaneously with our investigation into the incident. We know of many people including parents who want their say in this,” Sivakumar said when visiting the site with three other assemblymen yesterday.
