Tee Keat: Be ready for rebound in business and tourism
KUALA LUMPUR: The local aviation industry must be ready to capture the upsurge in business and tourism following the recovery of the global economy.
Transport Minister Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat said airport operators particularly must anticipate this by preparing to meet the higher demand for aviation services.
“I should also note that the wise airport operator, while optimistic, also proceeds with caution and acute awareness with what their colleagues are doing,” Ong said during a dinner organised by Malaysia Airports Bhd (MAB) for the 19th Airports Council International (ACI) World and Asia Pacific Conference and Exhibition last night.
Ong also told airport operators to focus on achieving sustainability in their field while improving their human resources, technologies and innovation to cater to the unique needs of travellers.
“The tourists, the business travellers, the airlines, the agencies, the Government, all these have unique needs and must be catered for efficiently. It is in achieving this that the measure of an airport’s efficiency is determined,” the minister said.
