Lee Sinje hopes talk will give better understanding of World Vision campaign
KUCHING: The desire to speak up for the voiceless led actress Lee Sinje to become a World Vision child sponsor.
Lee Sinje, who has been a child sponsor since 2002, will draw from her visits to World Vision projects in Mongolia, Kenya and India.
She will talk about her journey as a child sponsor, the issues she witnessed within the various communities she had visited, and how her experiences shaped her worldview.
“I hope that through the sharing of my experiences as a child sponsor, the people of Sarawak will have a better understanding of the work that is being done among those in need, and how each of us has the ability to lend a helping hand,” she said in a statement.
Actress with a cause: Lee Sinje will speak about her journey as a child sponsor. She will be holding a talk in Miri on Nov 11. Lee Sinje currently sponsors nine children from various parts of the world.
World Vision is an international Christian relief, development and advocacy organisation dedicated to working with children, families and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty.
Its international child sponsorship programme allows a sponsor to help a child at RM50 a month.
World Vision Malaysia is currently embarking on a “This is My World Vision” campaign throughout Malaysia to promote better understanding of the organisation’s work.
Those interested to attend Lee Sinje’s talk at Imperial Hotel Miri can register with World Vision Malaysia at 03-7880 6414. Seats will be allocated to 200 guests on a first-come-first-served basis.
The talk will be conducted in Mandarin.
