Take a musical journey for charity
By YIP YOKE TENG
PETALING JAYA: Acclaimed musicians from nine countries will be in Kuala Lumpur to celebrate the Sultan of Selangor’s 64th birthday with a grand symphonic concert.
The Unforgettable Konsert Amal di-Raja slated for Nov 14 and 15 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre will raise funds for Alzheimer’s Disease Foundation Malaysia (ADFM).
Famed Ipoh-born orchestra conductor Eugene Pook, who is based in New York, will lead the 66-strong Kuala Lumpur International Festival Orchestra.
For a good cause: Alzheimer’s Disease Foundation Malaysia’s patron Puan Sri Wendy Ong with Pook in front of a banner for the concert. The all-star ensemble feature top musicians from Singapore, Thailand, Japan, Uzbekistan, USA, Hong Kong, Poland, Germany and Malay-sia.
“The concert is a musical journey through a variety of styles, eras and languages, including oldies and pop numbers enhanced with a symphonic twist,” Pook, 37, said in an interview at the ADFM day-care centre here yesterday.
The Star’s Fit 4 Life and Sin Chew Daily are the media partners. The main sponsors are SP Setia, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre and Innovate Solutions.
Tickets for the charity concert on Nov 14 are priced at RM83, RM183, RM283 and RM383.
Tickets for the royal charity gala night on Nov 15 are priced at RM100, RM200, RM350 and RM500.
