PM tells parties to make peace in BN spirit
By MUGUNTAN VANAR
KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has reiterated his call for Barisan Nasional component parties to stop quarrelling and resolve problems in the spirit of the coalition.
The Barisan chairman and Prime Minister said the coalition was already facing enough problems.
“Don’t squabble, let’s discuss and talk under the family spirit ... there is no problem that we cannot resolve,’’ he said at the opening of the Parti Bersatu Sabah congress here last night.
He said that there was nothing more heart-warming than to see Kadazandusuns, Malays, Chinese and Indians discussing and resolving issues in the spirit of 1Malaysia.
Warm reception: PBS members greeting Najib upon his arrival at the PBS Annual Congress in Kota Kinabalu Saturday night. On his right is PBS president Joseph Pairin Kitingan. “We should discuss things as 1Malaysia, one family, one hope, one race and one country for a better future,’’ he stressed.
He described Sabah as a “blue state” in terms of being a Barisan stronghold, adding that this should be maintained.
As such, he said it was important for elected representatives to go to the ground and listen to the needs of the people.
“People come first and so elected representatives must go to the ground,’’ he said, adding that the people should be encouraged to always support the Barisan.
He said the Barisan must project an image that it was not a government for big businesses or big contracts but a government “of the people and by the people.”
“We must walk the talk. Then we will be in the right direction,’’ he added.
