Suspended veep to seek ROS’ help to lift suspension
BUTTERWORTH: Suspended Gerakan vice-president Huan Cheng Guan will write to the Registrar of Societies to appeal against the suspension.
Huan said that he believed he had a good chance of being reinstated, following the registrar’s reinstatement of Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek as the MCA deputy president.
“I think I have a stronger case compared to Dr Chua. I will prepare my appeal letter over the next few weeks,” he said after attending the prize-giving day of SRK St Marks in Prai here yesterday.
He declined to elaborate why he felt he had a stronger case than Dr Chua.
The registrar recently restored Dr Chua to his position as the MCA No 2 based on the MCA constitution.
Huan was slapped with a three-year suspension from June 19 after he threatened to quit Gerakan on May 29, citing disillusionment with the leadership for what he said was a refusal to learn from losing Penang to Pakatan Rakyat in the general election last year.
