Toe the line or leave party, says Anwar
GEORGE TOWN: PKR leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has issued a stern warning to party members — toe the line or leave.
Speaking at the first of 14 PKR conventions to be held nationwide in the next few weeks, Anwar renewed PKR’s commitment to the Pakatan Rakyat coalition and directed members to support party policies.
“Enough is enough. You either toe the line, support the reform agenda, commit yourself to Pakatan and work together as a multi-ethnic, multi-religious entity or you leave or be kicked out.
“There are no two ways about it,” Anwar told Penang PKR members at the Komtar dome last night.
He said there were those who were “hoppers” or those who acted like “warlords” and the party was prepared to weed out such individuals in order to uphold the people’s trust.
“People may ask, why did we choose these ‘frogs’ (to contest) in the first place. It is something we have to accept and rectify. This is why our current MPs and elected officials will not be automatically fielded in the next general election,” Anwar said.
