RHB banks on more ‘easy’ outlets to expand customer base
KUALA LUMPUR: The RHB Banking Group will open more than 50 new “Easy by RHB” outlets throughout the country next year. The outlets operate after banking hours, seven days a week.
Services available at these outlets include instant-approval personal loans, Amanah Saham Bumiputra financing, customised saving packages, personal accident insurance and instant debit card services.
“Our two pilot outlets, which were opened in July, are testimony to the fact that the easy-banking concept works,” said group managing director Datuk Tajuddin Atan. “Customers have responded positively and the results have been encouraging.
“This has given us the confidence to go on an aggressive expansion drive to bring the simple and fast banking concept to more communities,” he said at a press conference after the opening of an “Easy by RHB” outlet at Bandar Sri Permaisuri, Cheras, yesterday.
It was among 12 launched by the group yesterday after the pilot outlets in Taman Sri Gombak and Senawang. Tajuddin said 16 more outlets would be opened in the coming weeks, adding that each would help expand the bank’s customer base by 200 a month.
Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun, who officiated at the launch, said such banking concepts had made available a broad range of financial services and products to the lower-income group and those living in remote areas.
RHB Investment Bank chairman Datuk Abdullah Mat Noh said the outlets had the advantage of offering more Malaysian products and services at affordable rates and with speedy approval processes.
“All they need is their MyKad and no application forms to fill as we provide on-the-spot approvals with instant activation,” he said.
The other outlets opened yesterday are located at AEON AU2 (Jusco) Setiawangsa, Taman Keramat; Dataran Puteri, Puchong; Taman Sri Manja, Petaling Jaya; Seksyen 6, Kota Damansara; Taman Sri Rampai, Setapak.
The others are at Sentul Raya Boulevard, Sentul; Selayang Mall, Batu Caves; Seksyen U3, Shah Alam; Presint 15, Putrajaya; Jalan Pasar Baru, Semenyih; and Jalan Sultan Abdul Samad, Banting.
