Students killed in Kampar car-lorry crash
IPOH: A late night outing ended with the death of two students when their car crashed into a parked lorry in Kampar, about 40km from here.
Janice Saw Jin Xian (pic), 20, and Kam Lup Mun, 21, were pronounced dead on arrival at Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun here after the 2.15am incident yesterday.
Saw is a student at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman and Kam a student at Kolej Tunku Abdul Rahman. Both institutions are in Kampar.
Final destination: The destroyed Honda Civic (right) and one of the victims, Janice Saw (inset). A police spokesman said the deceased were in the car with two other friends when the accident occurred at the junction of Jalan Batu Sinar Mahsuri and Jalan Taman Bandar Kampar Baru.
“The driver is believed to have lost control of the car, which then hit the lorry parked by the roadside,” he said, adding that the victims were in the back seat.
The driver and front passenger, both Utar students, received outpatient treatment at Kampar Hospital.
