College students among those nabbed for drug abuse
By SHAHRIL CHE WAN
DUNGUN: Nine college students were among 12 youths arrested for narcotic abuse after a police raid at house in Taman Mutiara, near here, early Saturday morning.
Detectives acting on a tip-off that a highly wanted kidnapper had turned the house into his hide-out, were instead startled to see youths high on drugs when they stormed into the premises.
The 20-year-old suspected kidnapper was also apprehended and police have a lead on the drug-peddler supplying narcotics to college students in the area.
OCPD Superintendent Dahlan Mohd Noor said the raid was reinforced by officers from state police headquarters and the Marang district.
He said the nine students were pursuing diplomas in mechanical engineering courses at a nearby higher learning institute.
