Ying Ying’s mum to face two drug trials

BALIK PULAU: Although the case of lodging a false missing person’s report about her dead daughter is now behind her, former sales executive Jess Teh Hooi Wen, 30, still has to face two drug trials at the magistrate’s courts this year.

Keep your distance: Teh walking away from the magistrate’s court in Balik Pulau after a hearing date was fixed for her drug case.

The always fashionable Teh turned up at the magistrate’s court here alone at 9.05am yesterday for the mention of one of her cases.

She walked past pressmen in her usual unapproachable manner, with a scowl and in a black T-shirt with the words “Don’t ask why” printed on it.

Yesterday, magistrate Tengku Shahrizam Tuan Lah fixed June 22 to hear her trial for allegedly consuming methamphetamine at the Bayan Lepas police station at 1.30am on July 9, 2007.

On Nov 28 last year, Teh was ordered by the same court to be bound over in the sum of RM1,000 for three years after she pleaded guilty to lodging a false missing person’s report about Shearwel Ooi Ying Ying at the Bayan Lepas police station at 10.30am on July 6, 2007, when the three-year-old had actually died.

Teh is also facing trial for alleged possession of 0.79gm of cannabis in an apartment in Bandar Baru Air Itam, at 6.30pm on July 17, 2007.

That case has been fixed for hearing on May 11 at a magistrate’s court in George Town.
