Stop using fake badges, warns veterans group
ALOR SETAR: The Security Vete- rans Association of Malaysia has warned certain individuals to stop using number plates attached with fake car badges of the association.
Association president Mejar (Rtd) Raja Dzulkifli Raja Abu Bakar said the fake badges posed a danger as individuals could misuse it for activities such as smuggling drugs and contraband goods; or to flout traffic regulations.
“The official badges are used by VIPs who are association members. If abused, it can taint our image,” he told Bernama.
He added the association would request that the authorities to inspect all vehicles displaying the badge, and to arrest those who failed to present their membership card.

Raja Dzulkifli said companies illegally producing and selling the badge should stop before action was taken against them.
He added the fake badges were found to be used in Perak, Kedah, Perlis, Penang and the Federal Territories.
Raja Dzulkifli said that nearly 2,000 of the 25,000 association members used the official badge on their vehicle number plates.
Association members consist of armed forces, police and the Volunteer Reserve Corps (Rela) veterans.
