Eli should go, says PKR’s Kulim MP
PETALING JAYA: Bukit Lanjan assemblywoman Elizabeth Wong should have been allowed to resign from both her exco post as well as her state seat, says Kulim Bandar Baru MP Zulkifli Noordin.
The PKR MP said he disagreed with the move by Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim to reject Wong’s resignations.
“I take this stand because I respect the decision made by YB Eli to resign as an exco member and Bukit Lanjan assemblywoman.
“She chose to resign and had resigned. That is her personal right,” he wrote in his blog.
Zulkifli said he sympathised with Wong but hoped Khalid and the Selangor government would review their decision.
“I am confident YB Eli knows and understands the problems she faces,” he said, adding that Wong would face a lot of pressure from some quarters, who would take advantage of the situation should she remain.
“The decision will also place supporters and component parties of Pakatan Rakyat under tremendous pressure,” he said.
