Wanted: Workers who can multi-task and are ready for any duty

Star-Jobs H.E.L.P.: Career Transition
PETALING JAYA: Jobs are still available for those with the right attitude.
“Employers want employees who can multi-task, are flexible beyond their job scope, have the ability to take up challenges and add value to the company.
“Also, job seekers should not just think about themselves but rather what and how they can contribute,” said Jeannie Khoo, head of marketing and communications for staffing solutions provider Kelly Services (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd.
Way to do it: Ayers (right) providing pointers to Studio V head Maridas Sivadas on how employers can help affected employees if they are forced to retrench during the interview at Career Centre. Kelly Services is participating in the Star-Jobs Hope and Employment Lifeline Project (Star-Jobs h.e.l.p, in short) with The Star this week, conducting resume assessment and preliminary interviews with job seekers on behalf their clients (potential employers).
Khoo said there were still resilient companies looking to hire.
“We have vacancies for regional-based positions, telemarketers and accounting and administration positions,” she said when met at the Star-Jobs h.e.l.p Career Centre at Studio V at 1Utama yesterday.
The Career Centre is one of the highlights under the project, aimed at extending support and assistance to those seeking re-employment during these critical times.
However, Khoo also cautioned that employers were admittedly more selective now to ensure the right talent was hired for the organisation.
At the Career Centre yesterday, Careers Partners International (CPI) Asia-Pacific chairman William Ayers advised how employers who were forced to retrench could provide career transition services to their employees to ensure they “landed safely”.
Star-Jobs h.e.l.p encompasses four areas – the project website at www.star-jobs.com/help, activities at Studio V, information in StarMetro and retraining through talks and programmes.
Kelly Services will be around for the next Career Centre tomorrow, from 2pm to 6pm. For registration, log on to www.star-jobs.com/help.
Companies and individuals interested in joining this project can contact Joyce Lee at careeradviser@star-jobs.com.
