Gun brought into May 7 Assembly, Pakatan claims

IPOH: Perak DAP secretary Nga Kor Ming has alleged that an unidentified man had brought a firearm into the State Assembly sitting on May 7, saying that it broke global parliamentary conventions.

“Nobody, including assemblymen, are allowed to bring firearms into the house. We will lodge a report and we want the Attorney-General to charge those involved,” he told reporters at the Perak DAP headquarters here on Wednesday.

He showed reporters a cellphone videoclip of a man pulling out an object out from his waistband. Only a blurred image of the object could be seen.

Nga claimed that the object “could be a revolver” and said that Speaker V. Sivakumar had later lodged a police report at the Ipoh police headquarters.

Nga also urged the Attorney-General to charge Perak Deputy Speaker Hee Yit Foong with assault under Section 323 of the Penal Code for allegedly spraying Auyong assemblyman Yew Tian Hoe with pepper spray.

He showed a videograb of Hee apparently committing the offence, screen captures of which were published in Chinese daily Guang Ming Daily on May 12.

Hee had earlier denied she had used a pepper spray device, claiming that it was thrown at her and she was merely wielding while asking Yew if he was the one who had hurled the device.
