Man acquitted over wife's murder
By M. MAGESWARI
KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court Tuesday acquitted production crew Mohd Azwanizam Mat Desa, 30, of murdering his wife Azmah Mohamed, 24, at their house in Cheras three years ago.
High Court judge Justice Mohamed Zabidin Mohd Diah deemed him to have been of unsound mind and ordered him to be detained in Hospital Bahagia at the pleasure of the King.
He ruled that although the accused had murdered his wife with a decorative keris, he was unaware of the consequences of his actions as he stabbed his wife who was hugging their two-year-old daughter.
The judge said he accepted the evidence of the psychiatrist consultant Dr Rabaiah Mohd Salleh about the mental state of the accused that was not rebutted by the prosecution.
