By CLARA CHOOI
IPOH: Police have confirmed that the youth who allegedly committed the brutal triple murder in Taman Pinji Seni here had been high on morphine at the time.
Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Azisman Alias said the analgesic drug could have caused him to be extremely violent when he slashed and killed a mother, her five-year-old son and their maid on Wednesday.
The 26-year-old suspect has been remanded until May 27, he said after accompanying Deputy Home Minister Datuk Wira Abu Seman Yusop to visit the remaining family members on Thursday.
During Wednesday’s incident, the youth had allegedly trailed the vehicle of hair salon owner Wah Yah Matzi, 42, back to her home after she had left a bank.
Upon entering her home, the youth slashed and stabbed Wah Yah, her five-year-old son Ermin Denish Jafri and their maid, known only as Dani, before making off with a laptop computer.
Perak police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Zulkifli Abdullah, who was also present during Thursday’s visit, said that the youth had three previous police records for theft.
He said the suspect was still receiving treatment at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital here, where he was sent after friends of the victims’ family had successfully apprehended him.
It is also learnt that the youth, who was injured during the capture, is currently in stable condition after undergoing surgery for his wounds earlier Thursday.
