Indonesian maid believed beaten to death by employers
By M. KUMAR
PETALING JAYA: An Indonesian maid in her 20s was found dead in her employer’s house on Saturday and police have detained her employers, suspecting them of having beaten her severely.
Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Arjunaidi Mohamed said that one of the employers had called Hospital Kuala Lumpur for an ambulance at 3.15 pm saying that someone was seriously injured.
When the paramedics got to the house in Section 17, they found the maid dead with bruises on her head and body and promptly called the police.
“We have detained two siblings, a woman and man, in their 20s and 30s for further investigation,” he said.
“The maid had been working at the house for just two months. We detained the brother and the sister for questioning because we suspect they may have abused her,” he said.
In the single-storey terrace house is an elderly bed-ridden man with terminal cancer. His wife is hospitalised for fever in the University Malaya Medical Centre.
The siblings are their children. The daughter had a seizure when police were investigating the scene and had to be rushed to hospital, ACP Arjunaidi said.
The case is being investigated as a murder.
