By MAZWIN NIK ANIS
PUTRAJAYA: Health authorities have cleared 17 out of the 26 people who were in isolation at various hospitals nationwide of Influenza A(H1N1).
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Ismail Merican said the remaining nine who were being observed over the past 24 hours were still waiting for results of laboratory tests.
On Sunday, 11 people were sent to the Sungai Buloh hospital, six to Kuala Lumpur Hospital, four to Tuanku Jaafar Hospital in Seremban, two to Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital in Ipoh and one patient each to the Sultanah Aminah Hospital in Johor Baru, and the Queen Elizabeth and Duchess of Kent hospitals in Sabah.
“According to the World Health Organisation, as of 8am on Monday, no new country has been affected by influenza A (H1N1).
“In Malaysia, 10,201 people who entered the country were screened over the past 24 hours, of which the majority arrived via flights,” he said Monday.
Since the outbreak, a total of 190,987 people have been screened at various entry points, of which more than 150,000 of them were tested at the airports.
Dr Ismail said Malaysia remained free of local transmission of A(H1N1) but advised the public to take care of their hygiene and keep themselves updated on the disease.
