Wedding bells in the air
Other News & Views
WEDDING bells are in the air for two local celebrities next week, according to Berita Harian.
Singer and actress Maya (Matahari) or Meyanaliza Ruslee will wed businessman Tengku Shahreza Tengku Abdul Aziz in Taman Tar, Ampang next Friday.
A day later, singer Nikki or Nicolette Louisa Palikat, 24, will marry popular composer Audi Mok, 38.
Writing in Hip, the entertainment pullout of Berita Harian, columnist Normah Becok said Nikki had distributed her wedding invitation cards this week.
Normah said the card, which looked like a birthday card, was simple but very meaningful.
“During these difficult times, there is no need to waste money on a grand-looking card as long as you get the message across,” she said.
She also wrote that Nikki would be wearing a gown created by designer Jovian Mandagie.
The wedding planner would be Ning Baizura and her husband.
Maya fear of divorce
Kosmo! highlighted actress Maya Karin Roelcke, 30, who expressed her fear of divorce following news that celebrity Sarimah Ibrahim had parted ways with her husband Andrew Browning Abdullah, 38. Their split was highlighted by the media several weeks ago.
Maya married British-born Steven David Shorthose or Muhammad Ali Abdullah in Italy last year.
“I sympathise with what happened to Sarimah’s marriage. I pray that such a thing will not happen to me. It is not true that I have never feared divorce. I hope Sarimah is well now and accepts it with an open heart.”
Maya said she was impressed with Sarimah’s perseverence in keeping mum about the matter for five months.
“It is better that a divorce is resolved in a proper manner without publicity or emotional outburts,” she said, citing how former husbands or ex-wives bad mouth one another in public.
Maya said she was still enjoying her honeymoon with her husband.
“I want to achieve all sorts of things before I have a child. There is no need to rush.”
