RTM told to look into live telecast of Parliament sessions
KUALA LUMPUR: Radio Television Malaysia (RTM) was on Wednesday told to look into the live telecast of parliament sessions following criticism that the broadcasting station was carrying out selective telecasting.
Deputy Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Ronald Kiandee said RTM should take note of the matter.
Earlier Datuk Mohamad Aziz (BN-Sri Gading), who rose as soon as the session started Wednesday, said he received numerous telephone calls and text messages from the public complaining that the state-run television channel was carrying out selective telecasting and airing of interviews during the period.
"Let's do it like what it used to be... live telecast from 10am to 10.30am. If there are incidents like fighting during the telecast, then let the people be the judge," Mohamad said.
Several opposition members also touched on the matter when debating the Bank Negara Malaysia Bill 2009.
M. Kulasegaran (DAP-Ipoh Barat), for instance, requested Kiandee to throw RTM media crew out of the Dewan Rakyat but was objected to by government backbenchers, causing a momentary rupture.
Kiandee calmed the situation and asked RTM to take note of the criticisms. - Bernama
