Ronnie Liu dares Wee to name names
By WANI MUTHIAH and CHRISTINA TAN
SHAH ALAM: Selangor executive council (exco) member Ronnie Liu has challenged Wangsa Maju MP Wee Choo Keong to name the exco member who allegedly has links with the underworld.
“If he is a man, he will name the exco member so that action can be taken against him,” said Liu.
However, Liu said Wee should not reveal the name when he is in Parliament to avoid action being taken against him by aggrieved parties.
He said little could be done with regard to the allegation unless an identity is revealed.
“He should keep quiet if he cannot produce any evidence,” Liu told a press conference at the state assembly Tuesday.
Wee had posted in his blog earlier this week that the office of a Selangor exco member was being used by some underworld characters.
Liu claimed that there was suspicion that PKR member Wee was targeting his former party the DAP with his wild and baseless allegation.
Citing an example, Liu said Wee had once accused DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang of importing a car using an Approved Permit (AP) but was unable to substantiate the claim.
When asked if he had personal disagreements with Wee, Liu said they did many years ago but were back on talking terms soon after.
“I’m suprised why he did such a such thing. As a politician, he should know that those living in glass houses should not throw stones,” he added.
Liu also slammed several newspapers for linking him with the rumours without speaking to him or seeking evidence first.
