Singaporean admits to drug charges
JOHOR BARU: A Singaporean pleaded guilty to five drug-related charges and entering Malaysia without valid documents.
Oh Thain Huat, 31, from Jurong East, Singapore, was charged at a magistrate’s court for having 1.51gm of cannabis and 0.97gm of methamphetamine at a hotel in Bandar Baru Permas here on June 17.
He was charged under Section 6 of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for having the cannabis, which carries a maximum jail term of five years or a RM20,000 fine or both.
He also faces a jail term up to five years or a maximum fine of RM100,000 under Section 12 (2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for having methamphetamine.
Oh was also charged with having 0.64g of ketamin and for taking methamphetamine at the same time and place. He faces up to five years’ jail or a fine up to RM100,000.
Oh can also be fined up to RM5,000 or jailed a maximum two years under Section 15 (1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act for consuming methamphetamine.
In addition to that, he was charged for entering the country without valid documents and faces a maximum RM10,000 fine or five years’ jail.
