Syariah ruling: Singer Jamal Abdillah divorces third wife
By CHRISTINA TAN
SHAH ALAM: Pop singer Jamal Abdillah has divorced his third wife Fatimatuzahra Samad after a Lower Syariah Court declared his “talak” (divorce utterance) in 2007 as valid.
Jamal Abdillah or Jamal Ubaidillah Ali, 50, and Fatimatuzahra, 25, were present when Syariah Judge Atras Mohamed Zin delivered the judgment.
The couple’s two-year-old son Ahmad Zaki Yamani was seen in the court compound for the first time since Fatimatuzahra filed for a confirmation of the talak from the court on April 30, 2009.
She alleged that the talak was made when they were travelling in a car, at 8pm on May 15, 2007.
Before delivering his decision, Judge Atras said only one issue remained -- Fatimatuzahra claimed the utterance was made at 8pm, while Jamal Abdillah said it was 10am.
The judge requested Jamal Abdillah swear in the name of Allah that his statement was true, after which he declared that the singer had made the utterance at 10am, and not 8pm, on that day.
Jamal married Fatimatuzahra on Jan 3, 2006, in Songkhla, Thailand.
