Najib leads ministers in retreat to discuss KPI and delivery system

PETALING JAYA: The key performance index (KPI) for ministers and ways to improve the ministries’ delivery system took centrestage at the two-day retreat attended by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and his Cabinet ministers.

The retreat also gave the ministers, some of them first-timers, a chance to foster better relationships and exchange notes with one another.

Foreign Minister Datuk Anifah Aman said it was a good opportunity for them to discuss issues pertaining to the Government and the people and receive feedback from each other.

“We enjoyed exploring ways and means to serve the people,” he said. “At the end of the day, it would be the rakyat who benefits.”

Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Khaled Nordin, while confirming that the KPI was discussed at length, declined to comment on the results of the preliminary KPI which were submitted to Najib.

“Let us wait for the Prime Minister to announce it,” he said.

Another minister said they also touched on how to improve the Government’s performance and service to the people, and work better with civil servants.

Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan also attended the retreat.

Security was tight at the hotel where the retreat ended yesterday. Najib was seen leaving the premises at around 5.45pm, followed by several other ministers.

Some returned to the hotel later to attend Transport Minister and MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat’s daughter’s wedding dinner.
