Enough fuel for Raya season, says ministry
PUTRAJAYA: There will be enough fuel for the Hari Raya festive season, said Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism Ministry secretary-general Datuk Mohd Zain Mohd Dom.
Major oil and gas companies had informed the ministry that they had replenished petrol supply in their stations throughout the country, and oil tankers had been placed on stand-by to cater for any shortage.
“We want to stress that there will be enough supply and also contingency plans for any eventualities,” he told reporters here yesterday.
Mohd Zain said that although technical experts from various oil and gas companies have informed the ministry that RON95 was suitable for 95% of cars in the country, the ministry would still hold a meeting with car importers and manufacturers regarding the feasibility of the change.
There were complaints some rural stations did not have RON97 petrol but that was because these stations did not have the capacity to store both RON95 and RON97 grades of fuel.
However, the oil and gas companies were monitoring their usage and might increase the storage capacity of these petrol stations to cater for both grades of fuel, he added.
